Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summits:

The Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2003 organized by the State Government provided boost to industrial investment in the state. The Summit 2003 resulted into attracting 76 investment proposals having total investment of Rs. 66,068 crore. These proposals include both projects from industrial as well as infrastructure sector. The state has taken effective steps to monitor these proposals in order to ensure that they materialize into actual investment. As on December 2006, in all 29 projects having investment of Rs. 22,825 crore have gone into commercial production and 21 projects having total investment of over Rs. 29,610 crore are under various stages of implementation. Of these 15 projects are in advanced stage.

 

Based on the success of the Investment Summit 2003, the State Government organized Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit 2005. It resulted into resounding success and the state received investment proposals worth Rs. 1,06,160 crore among 227 projects. These include projects in industrial sector covering Engineering Industry, Chemical Industry, Textile Industry, Agro and Food Processing Industry, IT industry and Infrastructure projects covering port and port related activities, power including wind power generation and urban infrastructure development projects. All these projects are regularly monitored for implementation and provided support for the state level clearances. In two years span, in all 84 projects having investment of Rs. 22,779 crore have gone into commercial production. Besides, 85 projects having investment of Rs. 65,470 crore are under various stages of implementation. Of these 24 projects are under advanced stage.

 

The Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit 2007, organized during January 12-13 2007, at Ahmedabad, showcased Gujarat with a theme of Gujarat Discovered giving special insights into the developments in Gujarat especially in Special Economic Zones (SEZ) and ports besides focus industrial sectors. Agro and food processing, Textiles & Apparels, Chemical and Petrochemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Engineering, Auto & Ceramics, Gems and Jewellery, Electronics hardware, IT&BT, Oil & Gas were identified as focus sectors.

In order to promote the Summit 2007, the State Government sent six delegations led by industry leaders to different countries over the globe. The delegations met with good success. Nearly 100 companies representatives from different countries including industry delegations from six countries participated in Summit 2007.

The Summit 2007 has received tremendous response in respect of signing of MoU and project announcements. In all, 363 MoUs were signed including project announcement having total investment of Rs. 4,61.835 crore. On completion of these projects, there will be employment generation for 13.26 lacs people. The State Government has already introduced a new software for monitoring all these MoUs, in order to provide assistance for expeditious implementation of projects.
