Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2007

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas organized every year, aims to bring expertise and knowledge of the Indian overseas community to India and integrating it into India's development process. Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is focused to highlight networking opportunities and collaborating them to confer a mutual developing platform. Generating this synergy to excel together towards a bright India along with the Indian overseas community is what Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2007 proclaims with its head held high. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh inaugurated this year's event on 7th January 2007 at the Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.  The valedictory session was held on 9th January 2007 and was attended by his Excellency Dr. A.P.J. Kalam, the President of India.  The President conferred Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards to select NRIs on the occasion.

Highlights of the event were a three day Convention, featuring diverse themes with eminent speakers, Trade and Industry Exhibition, Business Networking and Cultural Evenings.  The three day conventions focused on Education, Healthcare, Youth, women, Investment, Technology, Media, Parliamentary Affairs, etc.

The second day of the conference focused on Sessions with State Governments which were attended by several Chief Ministers of key States focusing on developmental Challenges of States and partnering opportunities.

The Government of Gujarat participated in a big way with an impressive exhibition highlighting the cultural and industrial progress of Gujarat.   The Guajrat exhibition was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi in the presence of a number of prominent businessmen, the Industries Commissioner Shri Arvind Agarwal and other senior government officers.
 
The Exhibition provided an exclusive showcase of India and Gujarat to overseas Indian delegates comprising the largest gathering of the Global Indian Family. More than 2000 overseas Indian delegates participated from across 70 countries and more than 1200 Indian delegates provided a focused target audience for the Exhibitions.
